“Everyone needs Encouragement. Everyone needs Hope. These are gifts you can give anyone, anytime”
Kia Ora, my name is Carmela Snooks. I'm 35, from Normanby, Taranaki and I love the outdoors.
In February, my partner and I will be cycling the length of New Zealand to fundraise for CanTeen, and I'd love it if you could support us and the fantastic work that CanTeen is doing every day.
We'll be cycling around 3000km from Cape Reinga to Bluff, as part of the first Mountain Biking Tour of it's kind (aka a "Brevet") called Tour Aotearoa. This month-long Tour is an organised event, with over 300 riders from NZ and overseas taking part. Our aim is to cycle around 100km each day to make it to Bluff (the 3000km mark) in just 30 days. You can check out more information about the tour here: http://www.touraotearoa.nz/.
CanTeen’s mission is to ensure no 13-24 year old will ever fight cancer alone. Canteen supported my family and close friends during their times of hardship and helped them cope with the impact of living with cancer. Unfortunately in our case lives were lost, but their spirits never forgotten. I would like to raise money to help support CanTeen to support more families going through the tough times, as they did for our family and friends.
Our target is $3000, which is $1 for every km ridden, and all donations are welcome. During the cycle I will also be carrying CanTeen bandanas, one bandana for each day. Each bandana will then be dedicated to a Teen who is currently receiving treatment.
I will blog daily with photos of my progress as well, and you're welcome to follow me on my journey. You can follow me here, and you can also track our exact GPS location each day. I'll post the link once it is live.
To support me in this, and help me reach my fundraising goal, you can donate via this page "Give Now" tab. Credit Cards only sorry. You can also direct debit or visit an ASB bank branch and donate to Canteen Taranaki a/c 123237 0015669 00 and please reference "Carmela" and your name so I can Thank You!
I dedicate this cycle to my friend Alisha Everleigh, in memory of my nephew Carlin Snooks, Jackson Tito, Aimee Oliver, my Uncle Mike and Aunty Molly and whanau who have lost their battle to cancer.
Thank you in advance for all your support. Wish me luck!
